Some activities for VUB (and non-VUB) students organised by FORSTIS.
What is definitey worth a visit in Brussels is the Royal Greenhouse. (les serres Royales de Laeken) It is only open 2 weeks a week when the flowers are at their best.

The Royal Estate is the home of Belgium's ruling family. The castles are out of bounds to tourists, but the nearby Serres Royales, the Pavillon Chinois and the Tour Japonaise. The Royal greenhouses are only open to the public from the end of April to the beginning of may (2 weeks). Designed by the architect Balat (Victor Horta's teacher), these greenhouses constitute one of Brussels' most remarkable monuments. This magic place will please both fans of 19th century architecture and green-fingered plant enthusiasts. These highly impressive greenhouses with their soaring ironwork are home to a wide range of flora and many rare species.

The 'serres' are open every day till Mai 9th except on mondays and on tuesday April 27th. Opening times: tuesday, wed., thu: 9.30-4PM. fridays: 1PM-4PM and 8PM-11PM. Sat. and sundays 8PM-11 PM.

The entrance fee is 2 EUR.
How to get there? Head for Bockstael metro station, and then take tram no 53. It stops just in front of the gardens.Or you can take the subway to Heysel and then walk through the nice park.
